Dwight Pedlow

Me? I have been riding since about 10 years of age. In my early years I rode at Horsemens Pony Club then Serpentine Pony Club with Show horses, Eventers and Dressage horses; the discipline I rode depended on the horse I had at the time.

As a junior I competed in State Eventing teams for Pony Club and EFA in National events and in my early twenties in State teams at National Dressage Championships. I also competed interstate in Royal Shows with Show horses.

I have continued riding and enjoyed training many horses over the years, mostly Eventers in my twenties and thirties and now Dressage horses.

In 1991 my wife and I purchased land in the Swan Valley and we developed the Swan Valley Equestrian Park. Apart from agistment, we hire the facilities as a venue and we hold regular Dressage training days. I also coach riders during the week.

CV

I am an Equestrian Australia (EA) National Coaching and Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 2 General coach, a Coach Educator and Assessor. I am an EA ā€œEā€ level Dressage Judge.

I have also been Chief instructor at Serpentine H & PC and an EFA Horse Trials Steward and Course Designer, designing and building the original courses for Serpentine H & PC, the PCAWA at Harvey and the EFA course at Brigadoon.

I have been on various EFA Western Australian and National committees over the years including:-. EFA WA Dressage committee member, EFAWA Dressage Chairman and National delegate, EFA WA horse trails committee member and National delegate, NCAS WA committee member, NCAS WA Chairman and National delegate. I have served on the EFA WA state board of management and have been the EFA WA Chairman.

I was the National delegate for the WA NCAS committee. It is the work on this committee that I enjoy the most. While on the NCAS committee I have been heavily involved in the development of the new NCAS courses. The change in direction of the new courses with the separation of the horse management, riding and coach certificates has allowed the establishment of the community based courses, as well as the improvement of the courses for EFA members. I helped drive this change with other committee members on the National NCAS committee. With amazing support from the National EFA I helped write the criteria for riding and coaching sections of the Introductory, Level 1 and Level 2 courses, whilst also writing the final assessment coaching tasks, risk management check lists and assessment day procedures protocol.

I am now one of five elected member of the NCAS National committee, this is the first elected members for the NCAS under the new skills base committee system. The new committee first met in March 2009

I am also on the Cystic Fibrosis WA Ball organising committee. Having a daughter with CF, I felt it would be good to become involved.
